The Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (AUSTAT) is the leading organisation for teachers in Australia and Taiwan. Founded in 1985 and incorporated in 2000, we uphold the highest standards in training, ethics, and professional practice.
We set benchmarks for teacher training, oversee professional standards, and represent our members to governments, the media, and health funds. Above all, we work to support teachers and share the benefits of the Alexander Technique with communities everywhere.
To achieve this, AUSTAT provides a range of services to support our members and the wider community:
These documents reflect AUSTAT’s values, outline how we operate, and set the standard for teacher training.
AUSTAT is led by a volunteer Council and supported by Standing Committees. Together, these dedicated AUSTAT-certified Alexander Technique teachers generously contribute their time and expertise to support our members and the wider community.
